Inhuman
Things hum
around us
all the time,
a veritable forest
of sound,
generators,
light bulbs,
electric fans.
We don’t really
listen because
they aren’t
alive,
right?
And further
out, in a similar
vein
of thinking,
we don’t really
need to listen
to cows,
chickens,
pigs
because
we don’t
meet
face to
face.
