Abatan River
Abatan River
A two-week old creature,
lit up from the inside,
travels from the constellation
of a mangrove and lands
on my son's palm.
I glimpse the tiniest
of alien suns,
and I see that I am
fragile, flickering,
a spark in the darkness.
The sweep of this hushed river
carries my prayer
for a life full
of light.
